Glossary
Glossary of license data and outbound terms
Plain definitions of the terms that appear in Florida license registries, federal motor carrier data and outbound sales, from DBPR and CILB to USDOT numbers, NAICS codes and A2P 10DLC. Where a term shows up inside Sourcy Data, the entry says how.
A2P 10DLCApplication-to-Person messaging over 10-Digit Long Codes
The U.S. framework for business text messages sent from ordinary 10-digit phone numbers. Carriers require the sending business (the brand) and each type of messaging (the campaign) to be registered before the messages are delivered reliably. Unregistered traffic can be filtered or blocked.
In Sourcy DataSMS sending requires an A2P 10DLC registration, which is submitted from inside the portal.
BASIC scoresBehavior Analysis and Safety Improvement Categories
The categories the FMCSA uses to measure a motor carrier’s safety performance: unsafe driving, crash indicator, hours-of-service compliance, vehicle maintenance, controlled substances and alcohol, hazardous materials compliance, and driver fitness.
Each category is expressed as a percentile from 0 to 100 against similar carriers. A higher percentile means worse performance.
CILBConstruction Industry Licensing Board
The board within the Florida DBPR that licenses contractors. A certified contractor has passed the state examination and can work anywhere in Florida. A registered contractor holds a local license and can work only in the jurisdictions where that license is valid.
Data enrichment
Adding fields to a record from sources other than the one it came from. A license registry typically publishes a name, a mailing address and a license number. Enrichment adds what the registry does not publish, such as a direct email, a phone number or a website.
In Sourcy DataRegistry records are enriched with contact details, and those details are what a reveal unlocks.
DBADoing Business As
A trade name a business uses publicly that differs from its legal name. A company registered as “Smith Holdings LLC” might operate as “Coastal Roofing”. Searching only by legal name misses it.
In Sourcy DataRecords keep the DBA separately from the company name.
DBPRFlorida Department of Business and Professional Regulation
The Florida agency that licenses and regulates most trades and businesses in the state, through boards and divisions such as the CILB, electrical contractors, real estate, restaurants and lodging, and alcoholic beverages and tobacco. Each board publishes its own licensee files.
DFSFlorida Department of Financial Services
The Florida agency that, among other functions, licenses insurance agents, agencies and adjusters. Insurance licensing sits here and not in the DBPR.
EINEmployer Identification Number
The nine-digit number the IRS assigns to a business for tax purposes. It is also called a Federal Tax Identification Number.

FMCSAFederal Motor Carrier Safety Administration
The agency of the U.S. Department of Transportation that regulates commercial trucks and buses. It keeps the national registry of motor carriers, identified by their USDOT number.
Intent score
A number that estimates how interested an organization is, based on its behavior. In website visitor identification it is usually built from repeat visits.
In Sourcy DataA linked business record gains 5 points for a visit from its exact IP address and 3 for a visit from its network range, up to 100. See website visitor identification.
License status
Whether a license is currently valid. The exact labels vary by board, but they usually distinguish active licenses from inactive, delinquent, expired, suspended and revoked ones. A license that is not active usually means the holder cannot legally do that work.
In Sourcy DataLicense status is a search filter, not a note inside a record.
Licensee record
An entry in a public license registry for a business or person that holds a license. It usually contains the name, license number, license type, status, dates and a mailing address, but no direct contact details.
MC numberMotor Carrier number
A docket number the FMCSA assigns to carriers that need operating authority, typically for-hire carriers moving regulated goods or passengers across state lines. It is separate from the USDOT number.
In Sourcy DataStored on carrier records alongside the USDOT number.
NAICS codeNorth American Industry Classification System
The standard used by the United States, Canada and Mexico to classify businesses by economic activity. Codes run from two digits for a broad sector to six digits for a specific industry.
In Sourcy DataStored on a record when the source provides it.
NPINational Provider Identifier
A unique 10-digit identifier for health care providers in the United States, issued by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Providers covered by HIPAA must have one.

Reveal
In Sourcy Data, the moment a record’s direct email and phone are unlocked. It is the action that spends a credit. Searching, filtering and previewing records do not.
In Sourcy DataRe-opening a contact your workspace already revealed in the current billing period does not cost again.
USDOT number
The identifier the FMCSA assigns to companies that operate commercial vehicles carrying passengers or cargo across state lines. Some states also require it for carriers operating only within the state. It is the standard way to look up a carrier.
