Sourcy Data in your AI assistant
Sourcy Data has a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, so the AI assistant you already use — ChatGPT, Claude, Grok or any other MCP-compatible assistant — can search the catalog, build audiences, draft campaigns and report on your account, with your access and your confirmation before anything is changed, deleted, or spends credits.
What it does
The connector lets an AI assistant read and work with your Sourcy Data account. Ask about your account: market sizes, company and people previews, your saved audiences, campaigns, replies, call runs, website visitors and credit balance. Get work done: save an audience, organize a campaign that isn't sending yet, manage custom fields and pixels, and configure a calling agent. Launch in Sourcy Data: the assistant can organize a campaign and draft its copy, but launching or resuming a campaign is done in Sourcy Data, not from the chat. Verifying email addresses is proposed and approved in Sourcy Data.
Before you connect
- A Sourcy Data account on a plan that includes AI connectors.
- An AI assistant that supports MCP connectors, such as ChatGPT or Claude.
Connecting your assistant
Add Sourcy Data as a custom connector with this address: https://mcp-data.sourcyinc.com/mcp. In Claude: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector. In ChatGPT, Grok and other assistants: add a new connector or MCP server in the assistant's settings, and paste the address.
The assistant opens the Sourcy Data sign-in. Sign in, then choose on the consent screen which permissions the assistant receives. Read permissions are selected by default; permissions to make changes, verify emails, or manage calling agents are not selected unless you choose them.
Things to ask
- “How many roofing companies are licensed in Tampa, FL?”
- “Build me an audience of dental offices in St. Petersburg with a phone number on file.”
- “Draft an email for my electrical-contractor audience introducing our services.”
- “What's my credit balance, and what happened on my account this week?”
- “Save an audience of roofing contractors in Orlando, FL.”
Permissions and your access
The consent screen lists what each permission lets the assistant do. Read permissions are selected by default; every write permission is not.
| Permission | What it lets the assistant do |
|---|---|
| Search the catalog | Size markets, preview companies and people, and see audiences and exports you already have |
| View campaigns and calls | See your email, SMS and call-run results, replies, senders and numbers |
| View website visitors | See which companies visited your site, with no IP address or personal visitor data |
| View account | See your credit balance, activity and setup, with no credentials |
| Manage audiences and fields | Save, recount or delete audiences; manage custom fields — with your approval |
| Organize campaigns | Pause a campaign, pick an A/B winner, classify a reply, manage senders — with your approval |
| Verify emails | Send addresses to our verification provider and spend credits — approved in Sourcy Data |
| Manage calling agents | Create, edit or delete an AI calling agent — with your approval |
| Manage pixels | Create, edit or turn off a website visitor pixel — with your approval |
How changes are confirmed
The assistant cannot change anything on its own. A low-risk change — saving an audience, classifying a reply — is proposed first; after you say yes in the chat, the assistant calls confirm_action and only then is it carried out. A high-risk change — anything that deletes or spends credits, such as verifying email addresses — is never confirmed from the chat: the assistant gives you a link, and you approve or reject it in Sourcy Data.
What the assistant can and cannot receive
- Contact detailsReturned only for businesses your account already revealed and for your own CRM leads. For an individual in the catalog, the assistant gets only what the free preview shows — never their name, address, phone or email — and it never gets a government identifier such as an EIN or NPI.
- Never returnedPasswords, API keys, Twilio or Stripe credentials, and payment details. Integrations are reported as on or off, never with their keys.
- Website visitorsThe pixel identifies the company that visited, never the individual: no IP address or personal visitor contact is returned.
Disconnecting
You can revoke your own connection at any time on the MCP page in Sourcy Data; the assistant loses access on its next request. An administrator of your account can revoke any connection, turn off individual tools, or turn off AI assistant access for the whole account.
Troubleshooting
- “This feature isn't included in your plan.”AI connectors come with specific plans. Ask your account administrator, or check Billing.
- The assistant can read but says it cannot make changes.Write permissions were not selected when you connected. Disconnect, connect again and select them on the consent screen.
- The assistant gives you a link instead of deleting something or spending credits. That's expected: deletions and anything that spends credits are approved in Sourcy Data, never from the chat. Open the link to review and decide.
- The assistant stopped working with Sourcy Data. The connection was revoked, AI assistant access was turned off for the account, or your account is no longer active. Ask your administrator, then connect again.
Questions about AI assistants
Can the assistant send a campaign?
No. It can organize a campaign and draft its copy, but launching or resuming a campaign is done in Sourcy Data. Every other change is proposed first and only carried out after you approve it, in the chat for low-risk changes or in Sourcy Data for anything that deletes or spends credits.
Which AI assistants work with Sourcy Data?
Any assistant that supports MCP connectors over OAuth 2.1, which today includes ChatGPT, Claude and Grok.
How do I disconnect an assistant?
On the MCP page in Sourcy Data. You can revoke your own connection at any time, and an administrator can revoke any connection on the account.
